Title: Bachelor's Grove picture from 1938 Date Submitted: 12/17/06
Location: Bachelor's Grove, Midlothian, IL ** Date of Haunting: n/a

Picture: Below you'll find a picture taken over Bachelor's Grove in 1938. You can see that the Midlothian Turnpike is in its original path (the yellow overlaid line shows how it looks today). Unfortunately, it's not worth zooming in any closer as the image is at a low resolution. The image is from GoogleEarth. Thanks to Jim McAyeal for the tip!

Title: Bachelor's Grove story, Woodlawn Cemetery and Oak Park hauntings Date Submitted: 1/10/05
Location of Haunting: Bachelor's Grove, Woodlawn Cemetery & Oak Park** Date of Haunting: ongoing

Story/Question: I've lived in Oak Park all my 19 years. I am really into ghosts and all. I'll tell you my best story and worst moment in video history... Me and about 7 or 8 other friends went to Bachelor's Grove in Midlothian. Caught an awesome orb floating for about 20 sec around my friends and the stone of the dug up grave. I showed everyone I knew, so about 30 people saw it! But one day I got it ready to put on my computer and forgot about it... next time we went needless to say it got recorded over! >:o! It all started from that... We did get rather odd orbs with my friends diggy cam at Woodlawn in Forest Park but they are debatable... you can have a look if you'd like. (After all that) My reason for E~Mailing is to learn more about Oak Park and the Oak Park areas hot spots to gain further incite. My friend’s house is really haunted on the north side of Oak Park. Strange poundings, foot steps, and door slams on his 3rd floor. We have yet to look into it due to college and all. Any incite would be much appreciated! Thanks a lot.~Brad

Title: Mary Alice Quinn & Chicago Miracle Stories Date Submitted: 8/28/04
Location of Haunting: Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Worth, Il * Date of Haunting: n/a

Question: I belong to a group of artisans who create rosaries, and one day, online, I received an email from one of them, asking if anyone had any info on Chicago's "Miracle Child" Mary Alice Quinn, especially a PHOTOGRAPH....She had a friend who was researching Mary Alice, thinking a bout putting forward her cause for canonization! I hadn't known of Mary Alice, but I Love ghosts, and I have some ties to Chicago, since my deceased grandparents once lived in Kankakee Ill, which isn't very far away. I went hunting on the web, for info about Mary Alice, but, well, although the "basic"facts of her story are there, there isn't much more, especially a picture! When I read that Mary Alice's mother used to give out relics of her own child, I was so fascinated, I wanted to know more in depth, about the child, and would give anything to get my hands on a relic! Do you know where I can find a picture of Mary Alice? And more in depth info? Thanks! -- Joby Umber, Columbus, GA.

Response from Slim Pictures:  This is perhaps one of Chicago's most beautiful tales of the paranormal.  I don't at all claim to be an expert on miracles, or the Catholic church, but I would really love to see Mary Alice recognized as a Saint.  I'm sure it was Prarie Ghosts (prairieghosts.com/ma_quinn.html) where you found out about the mother giving out relics.  I am sure that is absoluetely true due to the source: Troy Taylor, who I have great respect for.  However, I have not seen any relics in person or on photograph unfortunately.  I haven't even seen any images on the Internet, where EVERYTHING is.  There are a few books that mention her including mine, "Voices from the Chciago Grave (slimpictures.com/ghost.htm), but I haven't come across any book dedicated specifically to her.  By the way, if you are interested in Chicago miracle stories you'd be interested to look up the name Julia Buccola (also known as the Italian Bride) and a place simply known as "The Cross" at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, both also covered in my book.  Knowing that you are someone who takes religion seriously, I'd suggest visiting Chicago for your next vacation to see "The Cross" alone.  Of course, while there you can visit Mary Alice's grave as well.  On one visit there, November 11, 2001, the people I was with did, in fact, get overwhelmed my the smell of roses eventhough it was too cold to grow anything in Chicago at that time.  Maybe this is how you found me, but, if not, here's: the little bit of Mary Alice information on my site: slimpictures.com/southtour1.htm.  Thanks for visiting and definately let me know if you ever do come across a relic or a picture!
