Updates to Places Featured in
Voices from the Chicago Gave
This page is created for those who have already purchased and read Voices from the Chicago Grave. For me I tend compare ghost research to storm chasing - another of my favorite activities. In storm chasing, there are constantly new achievements being made in how we forecast storms, and there are constantly weather events happening that we can observe, pull data from, and maybe come to come conclusions. Meteorology is one of the oldest sciences, yet we don't know why some of the basic events happen, and why things happen one time and not another. The same is true of metaphysics (essentially, paranormal science). Despite people often choosing to ignore it, there are a lot of things happening worldwide on a daily basis. New information is always being gathered and new theories are always being introduced.
The book (pictured below to the right for those of you who haven't yet read it) was never meant to be the end of the line for any of the many stories we covered. New revelations are being made regarding the history of these places and paranormal events are also happening. On this page we will do whatever we can to continually update the book. This page will also cover any major national ghost news. Most of the best information comes from YOU the reader. If you have an interesting fact about something in the book that we didn't mention, let us know. Also, if you've had any strange experiences at any of the places we cover, please let us know about that as well, by clicking here. Also feel free to attach to the eMail any pictures you'd like to submit.
Events/places we are specifically looking for information about are Libertyville's Rouse House (sometimes known as the Murder Mansion), and the killing spree that occurred in the Cuba Road area during one bloody night in the late '70s, perpetrated by a black extremist group. We are looking for historical information, paranormal stories, and personal memories/experiences. eMail here!

5/31/05 - More Antioch High School Stories, submitted by a reader who graduated from the haunted school.
I received the book today. Although I have not finished it yet, I will add that Antioch High School, is now remodeled, but when i was there (class of 1996), I used to be in the art classes and pottery class. Very strange things always happened in that hallway. It was also always was the coldest part of the school. My locker used to be in that hallway freshman year. I would find my locker open eventhough I had closed it. I switched lockers against principal rules, but told him I could and would not be in that hallway any longer than I needed to be.
2/3/05 - The House on Rainbow Road,
information and photographs provided by Mike
Rutkowski, I'm hoping one day I will find some older pictures of the land ('90s
or before) to see what the house actually looked like. If you have any,
please eMail them here.
I mainly bought this book to learn more about the house on rainbow road, I have
been there a few times but I have seen nothing and there isnt much left. Over
the summer when I went there was a barn and a solo that was it. There were was
no brown house with the garage next to the barn or remains of a huge mansion.
Your pictures really amazed me because when I went back there those things were
long gone. That mansion must have been really huge from your pictures. I went
back there a few months after my first trip to find the remains of the mansion,
and the old pool I herd about. We had no luck the remains and the pool were
long gone.
*Update, I went back to the rainbow road site in early november to my amazment the gate was taken down and the property was for sale. I called the number on the sign and I guess they are building 6 houses back on the site. I came back a few days later because my friends didnt believe it was for sale. I took some pictures...

7/28/04 - Check out Diversatech, also known as Manteno
Insane Asylum, This
link created and submitted by Ed Shanahon of "The Unexplained World"
television and radio show, as well as www.theunexplainedworld.com.
One of the most common
questions I get regardshaunted asylums. There are a few, but they are
all south of Chicago, while most of my questions relate to the Cuba Road area
(to say it yet again, I do not know of any asylums aroung Coba Road - ever).
I never advocate trespassing in order to visit a potentially haunted location
- in addition to being potentially dangeous, it's also illegal. Manteno
State Hospital is a surprisingly perserved former institution. For more
information, visit: theunexplainedworld.com/manteno/index.htm
2/10/04 - New info about the Sunnybrook
Asylum, submitted
by Tom Smith, historian and Coordinator for the Lake County Forest
Preserve. In 1913 they sold the property which later became Sunnybrook
Health Resort. Smith has found that this place may have also served
as an abortion clinic in the 1920's. In Smith's opinion, the true
story of Spirit Fruit is the fascinating part of Sunnybrook and to him,
Jacob Bielhart is one of the most fascinating people to ever live.
9/02 - Security camera in Oklahoma captures strange event,
submitted by Jeff Dietrich.
