Archer Avenue of the North - Cuba Road

A key ingredient which contributes to a person’s level of fear in any situation is if they are comfortable with their surroundings. In other words, being in a different environment can put someone even more on edge than they already are. For example, those who have grown up in a small central Indiana town would probably be intimidated by the masses of people and noise that New York City holds.

A New Yorker traveling the opposite path could easily be spooked by the fact that after sundown in a smaller town, there is quite a bit of darkness. Not every road has the luxury of streetlights, and the absence of people reminds them that they are quite alone if help is needed.

For the city dweller looking for a good scare out of their element, Cuba Township in Northern Cook and Southern Lake County is the place to go. Without question, it holds the most haunted stretch of road north of Archer Avenue.

In fact, this small road almost serves as a condensed city as far as hauntings are concerned. Some of the most famous hauntings from the most famous Chicago locations appear to have an equal on or near Cuba Road. From intimidating phantom hitchhikers to vanishing inanimate objects to the Mafia; it can all be found on a lonely, hilly, dark, country road in the northern suburbs.
