p o e m
This past December second I had the extreme privilege to premiere a film
on my birthday. This was a rare and exceptional treat. The non-genre expressionist
short film "p o e m" debuted at an Arts Festival
organized by Sam Dole called
"Help Your Karma." Proceeds from the event
benefited an organization called A Safe Place, which
is a shelter for battered women and their children. Unfortunately the
film (rated borderline PG / PG-13) premiered amongst controversy as 19
seconds had to be blacked out. The event was unfortunate and
unmerited (the phrase fascism comes to mind). A more in-depth report about
"p o e m," the controversy, and non-genre films can be found
at SlimPictures.com.
Regardless, "p o e m" was a project that consisted of an on-again-off-again
production calendar of over five months. Actresses Sara
Rendall and Julie Dahlquist,
are featured and the audio help of JP Maurer
was heavily felt.
VOICES FROM THE GRAVE
The documentary that premiered earlier this year enjoyed its first season
of sales this Halloween at a number of different events as well as a permanent
sales location located on 310 S. Michigan Avenue in Chicago at the Savvy
Traveller Bookstore. Clips of the film were also shown twice
on a Milwaukee-based television show about the paranormal.
DOT COM
The web site is still growing in content and in traffic each and every
week. Recent additions include a large amount of information about Voices
from the Grave, and an order form where one can purchase their
own VHS copies of "The Property;" a 1999 suspense feature
film, "Voices from the Grave;" a 2000 documentary about haunted
areas in Chicago (almost sold out), and "p o e m;"
the controversial short that premiered just days ago.
ANGORALAND PRODUCTIONS - SHORTS
Earlier in the month John Champion,
and I started work on one of two planned comedic shorts that will be released
under the company Angoraland Productions. When additional
information, including where the shorts can be viewed, become available,
that information will appear here.
SITE OF THE MONTH:
When researching the haunted areas reported in Voices from the Grave and
Voices from the Chicago Grave there was one location
that came up every single time. That location is Bachelor's Grove
Cemetery located just South of Chicago. If there is one definitive
web site dedicated to this location it is bachelorsgrove.com. Maintained
by Pete Crapia, I have yet
to find a site more extensive and thorough. Feel free to check out this
web site and find out why we decided that this location needed to be featured
twice in our video documentary, and again in our upcoming CD-ROM.
