AVIATION DOCUMENTARY
The feature-length documentary about an airplane being built by Mundelein
High School is currently in full production starting this month.
So far over six hours of footage has been shot with several local newspapers
and one national magazine (Air & Space) taking notice.
Jim Jackson has a long
history of building planes at the high school. Starting in 1980 it was
one of the first and still one of the only programs in the world
where high school students can earn their pilot’s license and help
build and actual airplane.
This is the fifth plane built by Jackson and will eventually
make a world record trip from here in Chicago to the geographic
North Pole. A previous plane went to the Arctic Circle
before landing on the cover of National Geographic Magazine.
METROMIX: THE TV SHOW
I’ve been spending a lot of time over at Chicagoland’s
Television (CLTV) working on the Regional Emmy Award
winning “Metromix: The TV Show.” Recently we’ve
conducted interviews with everyone from Tom
Cruise to porn star Ron
Jeremy. I primarily write for the show,
but also field produce from time to time.
My latest piece was on “Sweet Smell of Success,”
the musical stage version of an older drama. From Chicago, the musical,
starring John Lithgow, will
head directly to Broadway.
BIG NEWS?
Stay tuned for what will most likely be some big news that will break
next month!
SITE OF THE MONTH
It’s tough to keep on the cutting edge in entertainment. It is apparent
as every show (other than “The Larry Sanders Show”)
has fizzled before burning out. Just look at the mess that is “The
X-Files,” or even “Friends”
in recent years. Jumptheshark.com
is the place to go and place your vote to which shows “jumped the
shark” and what was it that made a once hip show fall flat.
Happy holidays and happy New Year from everyone here at Slim Pictures!
