SLIM PICTURES DELAYS
As you may have noticed, there was no newsletter last month. It was going
to be sent on September 15th but then September 11th happened. The majority
of subscribers to this newsletter live in New York and Los Angeles, so
we here at Slim Pictures are praying for your well-being and the well-being
of the world.
PUBLIC APPEARANCES
There are still upcoming speeches booked and a number have already been
given. Please check back to the site, as additional dates are often added
at the last minute. To see the scheduled dates for the 2001 season, starting
at the end of this week check here. A special thanks to Diane
Williams for her support.
NEW PORT SOUTH
"New Port South," a film written by James
Hughes and directed by John
Hughes was released in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois
in early September as part of a limited release. Unfortunately, it will
be a "straight to DVD" release. The film was shot almost entirely
in the Chicago suburb of Libertyville. Slim Pictures
regulars who were used as extras in the film include Chris Pry,
Erin O’Kane, Jeff Lord, and myself. Rent or purchase it
when it’s available to support a Chicago-born film!
COLUMBIA COLLEGE
The fall 2001 semester is finally underway at Columbia College.
As a junior I am continuing my major of Television Production
and Writing. My courses include "The Television Producer,"
"Individual Visions," and "Video Techniques III,"
and in internship with CLTV (a Chicago-cased and oriented
24-hour news channel). Video Techniques III teaches how to use AVID
Xpress, the best editing software available. And at CLTV I will
be performing producer duties on a weekly entertainment show titled “Metromix.”

SITE OF THE MONTH
People Technology, owned by JP
Maurer, is the company that hosts this site and a number
of others including mygreenhonda.com and chrisandnickshow.com. Maurer
exercised very good taste in how every web site he hosts by supporting
the American Red Cross. His design highlighted the urgency
and urged donations while keeping the significance of the September
11th events fully in tact without the tasteless exploitation
that is starting to become apparent in the media now.
