South Side Ghost Tour

St. Casmir's Cemetery

There are two male apparitions reported at this location on Chicago's South side cemetery. One, an elderly gentleman has been observed just within the cemetery's main gates and in the yards just across the street. This person has been seen day and night. The other, more terrifying spirit appears in the middle of the road, often causing motorists to swerve out of the way. This man is described as having a ghastly pale face and noticeably large teeth, which earned him the nickname of the St. Casmir's Vampire. Motorists traveling on Kostner Road, which T's at St, Casmir's Cemetery see the man behind the gates, illuminated by their headlights.

Mount Olivet Cemetery

Just down 111th Street is Mount Olivet Cemetery. This cemetery has one of the city's four so-called "Hungry Fences." These are locations on straight roads where passing cars frequently end up crashing into the wrought iron fences. No single explanation has been able to explain this phenomena. The other Hungry Fences are located at Rosehill Cemetery, Bohemian National Cemetery, and yet another Cemetery along 111th street; Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Holy Sepulchre Cemetery

In addition to the "hungry fence" this cemetery has another noteworthy point. It is the burial location of Mary Alice Quinn; also known as Chicago's Miracle Child. As a child living in Chicago in the late 1920's Mary Alice claims to have seen the Virgin Mary in her bedroom. Not long after she told her parents that after death she wishes to come back and help people. Since her death at the young age of 14 due to a heart condition, she has appeared to people in need all over the world, often times healing them of their ailments. Many have come to the grave in search for a miracle and find it. Often times poor health rebounds dramatically immediately after a prayer session at the grave site. Very often and in all seasons of the year there is a strong sent of roses near the grave even when no flowers are present. Several members of our group smelled flowers on this visit.
