BACK FROM LA (FOR
NOW)
My time spent in LA through Columbia College’s Semester
in LA program was invaluable. To recap, I spent over a month
attending school at the CBS Radford lot in Studio City.
There, industry professionals of all types came to give advice and pointers
to newcomers to the industry in LA.
After the program ended, I went out and spent almost six months interning
for Sony’s Revolution Studios. I worked specifically
in the development department for Navid
McIlhargey. I cannot thank them enough them enough for
the real world experience and education I gained at Revolution.
Through the internship, I also got the opportunity to spend some time
as a PA on “Daddy Daycare,” (currently in
theaters) and on “Hollywood Homicide” directed
by Ron Shelton and starring
Harrison Ford and Josh
Hartnet (in theaters June 13).
While out West I made way too many new friends to mention, but you know
who you are and I thank you for all the great times – particularly
my Dresden gang and Max Timm, who made partying on Sunset a way of life.
TEACHING
I am very pleased to announce that Saturday June 28 I will be teaching
two classes for 6th - 9th grade students at the College of Lake
County’s “Day for the Youth Writer.” The events
for the kids run from 10:00 to 3:30. So, if you have any kids interested
in learning the art of story writing, who can make it to Grayslake, IL,
try to get involved. I don’t have access to the numbers, so this
event might be sold out. Call 847-543-2759 for more info.
DVD AND GRAPHIC DESIGN
Since moving back to Chicago, I’ve been working on mastering some
additional aspects of moviemaking. Most notably, I’ve gotten completely
comfortable with PhotoShop to create images for print
or images that can be implemented in video/film projects. I’ve also
learned a great deal about AfterEffects where I can I
can add special effects and animation to projects. I’ve also added
FinalCutPro to my list of editing software that I know.
Lastly, I’ve grown very fond of creating DVDs with DVD Studio
Pro. For teaching me a lot of my new abilities, I have John
Champion and Columbia College Chicago
to thank.
So, if anyone needs any of the above mention work done, you know where
to go and if you’re on this mailing list, you can expect a notable
discounted rate.
SPEAKING OF DVDs…
We are currently in the process of releasing the ghost documentary “Voices
from the Grave” on DVD. The doc itself will be reedited
and hosted by Mary Czerwinski
while the DVD will be loaded with special features. Later in the summer
Tony Michael Farmer and
I will release the suspense thriller “The Property”
on DVD for its 5 year anniversary.
FILM IN PRODUCTION!!!
Over the summer we intend on shooting a short film around 10 minutes in
length. We currently have the production equipment a lot of crew actors,
stunt people, etc. What we don’t yet have is a definite script.
We’ve heard dozens of ideas over the last month, but haven’t
yet committed to anything. We’re willing to hear pitches, treatments,
and full scripts, or even undeveloped ideas. We have a small budget and
do not intend on profiting from the completed film. We have a number of
talented people involved who will use this as their reel/video resume.
Anybody interested in being involved in any capacity, please contact us.
